Last updated: October 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Femonomic ("Femonomic", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit www.femonomic.com (the "Site"). Femonomic is an online publication operated by Luvy and based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

1. Information we collect
Information collected when you browse the Site

When you visit the Site, some technical information is collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through our website platform and hosting provider (Hostinger) and through Google Analytics, as described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site, for example which pages are read and which links are clicked. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, time spent on the Site, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser information. We use this information in aggregate to improve the Site. You can learn how Google uses this information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. Subscriptions are handled through the built-in subscription tool of our website platform, Hostinger. We use your email address only to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by contacting us.

Information you send us

If you contact us through the contact form on our Contact page, we collect the name, email address and message you provide. If you email us (for example to ask a question, pitch or submit a story, or discuss a partnership), we receive your email address and any information you include in your message, such as your name, your writing and a short biography. We use this information to respond to you and, where applicable, to review, edit and publish your submission.

Publishing plans and payments

Paid publishing plans are purchased through PayPal payment links. Payments are processed by PayPal, and we do not receive or store your full card or bank details. PayPal provides us with the information needed to confirm your payment, such as your name, email address and transaction details. PayPal's own privacy policy applies to the information you give PayPal.

Overwhelm Reset tool

The Overwhelm Reset tool runs in your browser. What you enter is saved in your own browser's local storage so you can return to it, and it is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing your browser's site data.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to operate, maintain and improve the Site; send the newsletter you subscribed to; respond to your messages; review, edit and publish submitted stories; process and confirm publishing-plan purchases; understand how the Site is used; keep the Site secure; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work, and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics. If we introduce advertising in the future, advertising cookies may also be used, as described below. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some parts of the Site may not work as intended if you do. Where applicable law requires your consent for certain cookies, we will ask for it.

4. Advertising

The Site does not currently display third-party advertising. We may introduce advertising in the future, including through Google AdSense. If we do:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at https://adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

• You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

If you opt out of personalised advertising, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalised based on your browsing activity.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the Site, such as Hostinger (website hosting, website building, contact form and newsletter tools), Google (analytics and, in the future, advertising) and PayPal (payments), or where we are required to do so by law. These providers may process and store information outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union, where it may be subject to the laws of those countries.

6. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy. For example, we keep newsletter email addresses until you unsubscribe, keep messages and submissions for as long as needed to respond to and handle them, and keep payment records as long as required for accounting and legal purposes. Analytics data is kept in line with our Google Analytics retention settings.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, and the Site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. However, no method of transmitting or storing information online is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights over your personal information.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, you may also have the right to request deletion of your data, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

United States: Residents of certain U.S. states, such as California, may have rights under state privacy laws, including the right to know what personal information is collected, to request access, correction or deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
