From everything to tracking exercise, encouraging healthy eating, or beating addictions one day at a time, these three new apps I found will help you succeed on the most common New Year’s resolutions. According to Go Skills, the top New Year’s resolutions include exercising more, losing weight, getting organized, saving more money, spending more time with family, and quitting smoking. These are all very achievable goals that take commitment and consistency to achieve. Fortunately, there are various habit-forming apps one can access from a mobile phone that will help people stay on track with their New Years’ goals. Below are three of the apps I recently purchased that have helped transformed my habits this new year:
Headspace ($12.99/month)
While the app I chose below is meant to exercise the body, Headspace is a paid subscription self-help app that helps you exercise the mind. Headspace uses guided meditation to help people reach a level of mindfulness while promoting healthy habits. Using guided meditations, articles, and videos, Headspace offers colorful animations that create a safe space for people to cultivate their inner peace. Headspace offers meditations based on work, stress, or sleep in addition to basic meditations. They also have shorter meditations for people with busy schedules or who need a moment to de-stress on the go. This app has forced me to make time for myself every day by offering guided meditations that are easy to follow.
Fabulous ($35.99/year)
Fabulous is an app that helps you track habits and build new routines. The app provides you with a daily coach who encourages you to complete all of your tasks that day, and the rest is self-discipline. The app sets you up with a personalized roadmap, or journey, to help you become your best self. Fabulous allows you to create different routines for different times of the day or week and provides you with a structured path to see your completed tasks. The app also gives many science-based facts and encouraging messages to keep you motivated. Since I am on the first week, my daily challenges are really minimal (like drinking a glass of water), making me feel way less pressured to progress each day. I definitely suggest this app to anyone who needs to form new habits or enjoys having daily tasks completed in a list format. It kind of feels like I am in a video game leveling up every time I finish a challenge in my daily journey.
8fit ($60/year)
8fit is an app that allows you to customize your meal plans and workouts based on your dietary and physical needs. For the meal plans, you can choose your meals based on your fitness goals or the complexity of the recipes. The app even generates shopping lists for you based on your meal plan for that month, making it easier than ever to stay on track. As for the app’s fitness side, you can choose from hundreds of different workouts modelled on high-intensity interval training to help burn fat and gain muscle. This app has everything you need to get started on eating better and exercising. You can watch online classes and follow real coaches as they teach you new exercises. Don’t let the initial cost of this app fool you because, as someone who uses this app religiously, the quality of the food they suggest, and the workouts they prepare are worth the price. If you are like me and need your meals planned for you, I would seriously give the free trial to the 8fit app a try.
I am not usually one to pay for online apps, but I can honestly say that investing in each of them has greatly helped me stay on track this New Year. If I were to choose a favorite, I would have to go with 8fit for its ability to offer such diverse and tasty meals that are as good as they are affordable. I personally feel like it’s worth it to invest in your health, which is why I gave these apps a try. If you have a hard time sticking to your New Year’s resolutions like me, then you should give one of these apps a try too!
